Daemons Discuss - Podcast: Special Edition! | All Souls Trilogy Fans, Get Ready for an Event! Save The Date: September 23rd, 2017

Special Edition - The One With The Good News

Description: Save the date!  September 23rd, 2017 - All Souls Con 2017 is coming!  If you missed the one in 2015, now's your chance to make plans and participate this year!

SPOILER ALERT! We (The Daemons) approach this podcast with an assumption that the listener has read The All Souls Trilogy, including A Discovery of Witches, Shadow of Night, and The Book of Life.  If you haven't, and you don't mind, we certainly don't mind!  😊  Let's do this.

Listen:

1. Show notes:

For newcomers to the series:
- We'll start with the basics: The books in discussion are A Discovery of Witches, Shadow of Night and The Book of Life.  Together they make The All Souls Trilogy by Deborah Harkness.
- Our Daemon Guides to the All Souls Trilogy are available for download: ADOW, SON, TBOL
- If you'd like a ready-reference from the author herself, be sure to download the All Souls Real-Time Reading companion (free e-book at online booksellers via Penguin and Headline books).
- Deborah Harkness usually conducts a real-time reading on her Facebook Page (starting in September), and shares her posts across social media.  Check out her website for all of her social media links, and of course all that she has to offer her readers!
- To see what's available on the web as far as the All Souls universe fandom, check our links page.

In this episode:
* Hold everything! AllSoulsCon is coming! See the official announcement via Deb.  Be sure to follow ASC on Twitter @AllSoulsCon, Facebook (AllSoulsCon on Facebook), and visit the website AllSoulsCon.org.  Our next regular episode will be published next week (Take 10/The One With the Experiments) -- we figured it was more timely to get this special edition out first.

* (01:01) The Cabbage Patch -- not to be confused with the doll (from: HowCast):

* (01:17) The Hustle - It was a popular 70's Disco line dance.  Learn below! (Video from Favd15)

* (03:00) Chasing the Green Fairy! Ok, for those who don't know what this term means, let us enlighten you on the Green Fairy aka Absinthe (it sounds dirty, but it's not really...).  This video is a good (and funny!) presentation of the history of Absinthe, and why it's considered so "illicit" - video from Tasted:

* (03:41) Haunted places in New Orleans

* (03:57) The Garden District in New Orleans

* (04:24) Muriel's Jackson Square

* (04:21) Ghost/Vampire Tours, Cemetery Tour

* (05:13) Possible meet-up for Discussers?  YAS!  Details to be determined as we get closer to the event.  Become a discusser!  Go to DaemonsDiscuss.com ... scroll down, give us your name/email on the short form, fill in the code (anti-spam thing...), and click submit.  BAM!  You are a Discusser!  It's through these emails we'll give details on a future meetup at AllSoulsCon.

* (07:33) Signed items at AllSoulsCon:

Our passes from ASC 2015
Thomas Gunter (cos-play Gallowglass) getting ready to have his chest signed by Deb
* (07:48) Jennifer Ikeda was at the last ASC; she was the person who narrated the All Souls Trilogy audio books.

* (09:55) The pass price of $75 is the goal.  It would be unwise of us to say that this will be the final price.  Most likely, yes -- but we aren't the ones balancing the budget over at ASC, so we're crossing our fingers and hoping we will eventually be able to say it definitively.

* Our episode titles are a loving tribute to the show "Friends" just 'cause we love Friends and - let's face it - it's easier! Here's how one of the show creators explains their reasoning:
Jeff Greenstein: "When Marta & David & Jeff & I did 'Dream On', we used to spend a lot of time thinking about titles, because they were on-screen at the top of each episode. On "Friends", we decided that was a waste of time. We figured, why not name each episode after the thing that people will ostensibly be talking about around the water-cooler the next day?"
This was a Daemon Production
