TV Show Review - A Discovery of Witches - Season 1, Episode 7
Description: Welcome to the family, Matthew! Let's meet Sarah, Emily, Tabitha and the Bishop House.
SPOILER ALERT! We (The Daemons) approach this podcast with an assumption that the listener has read All Souls universe books, including the trilogy (A Discovery of Witches, Shadow of Night, The Book of Life), and Time's Convert + snippits from The World of All Souls. If you haven't, and you don't mind, we certainly don't mind! Please be advised, we will approach the television series (A Discovery of Witches) the same way when it is released in the US/Canada. π
Let's do this. *Note - this podcast is labeled 'explicit'

EPISODE 7
From the press release:
After confronting her aunts, Diana learns the tragic circumstances surrounding why she was spellbound as a child. Diana’s devastation at having lived her life as only half herself is interrupted by the Madison house releasing one of the missing pages from Ashmole 782, sent forward in time by Diana’s father Stephen, a time-walker. As their love grows, Matthew confesses to Diana that he wasn’t able to keep his two previous loves safe. Diana believes he won’t hurt her. But an unexpected encounter threatens to tear them apart once again.

In closing...
For us, visiting fake Madison was a delight! For it being filmed in Wales, they did manage to convince us that they were in upstate New York. The little details of Americana, the quintessential rental Ford Taurus, the bumper stickers on Sarah and Em's Jeep Wagoneer, the wind chimes on the porch ... it was all great! We'll even forgive the boat-ish Lincoln Continental as a choice ride for Rebecca and Stephen!
Matthew wonders what the house is capable of, but it proves itself to be quite a story teller as it informs Diana, Matthew, Sarah and Emily (and US!) what really made Diana's magic recede to the shadows.
The aunts were perfect. Kudos to Alex Kingston and Valarie Pettiford for their stellar performances as Diana's guardians. We couldn't of asked for better! All of the events in the house were wonderful. From the meeting to storytime from the house, to the emotional aftermath, to the training sessions -- oh dear. It was wonderful.
The conversation between the two families (Matthew, Marcus + Miriam and Diana, Sarah and Em) was great! These book readers were not sad. Must we say it again? We wish these episodes were longer!
The continued saga over in Venice is still carrying on while Diana and Matthew are at large. Peter, Baldwin, and Agatha are still trying to sort their stuff out. And then you have the unpredictable factions of that crowd; Satu is detained, and Domenico is being opportunistic as always whilst visiting his bird in a cage. Gerbert, we assume, is working on other angles for creature domination, because he isn't moved by Baldwin's church pew confrontation.
Amazingly, Juliette finally defies Gerbert; she's hit the freedom button! The world is at
her fingertips! She can travel! She can go to school! She can paint! She
could possibly find a new career in modeling! Maybe she can explore all
of that chemistry with Domenico, and see if it has legs? Her whole
immortal life awaits her! What was that? Oh. Never mind. Moving on!
Diana's training sessions -- up until now -- had not given us cause for alarm, but that "find the vampire" game kept us on the edge of our seats ... π±π±π± ... JULIETTE!
Join us next week as we traverse Diana and Matthew's path out of this mess!

* Our episode titles are a loving tribute to the show "Friends" just 'cause we love Friends and - let's face it - it's easier! Here's how one of the show creators explains their reasoning:
Jeff Greenstein: "When
Marta & David & Jeff & I did 'Dream On', we used to spend a
lot of time thinking about titles, because they were on-screen at the
top of each episode. On "Friends", we decided that was a waste of time.
We figured, why not name each episode after the thing that people will
ostensibly be talking about around the water-cooler the next day?"
