Take 64 - The One With Father Knows Best
Description: "Parting is such sweet sorrow." Scratch that! Goodbyes flat-out suck! And that's what Diana has to deal with in this chapter; saying goodbye to her father -- although technically, not really -- but we get it. The fact that these two will never meet each other again (or WILL they?!) is not lost on us. At least there was a date night with Matthew to sweeten things up (sigh). In the end, Diana's OK, and we survive. Our All Souls lives are much sweeter having met Stephen Proctor - Dorky Dad, observant guest, wise man, kind and forgiving father. Thanks in advance for tolerating Val's audio (she's just going to blame Jerry and move on)! We hope you enjoy our take on chapter 38 of Shadow of Night.SPOILER ALERT! We (The Daemons) approach this podcast with an assumption that the listener has read All Souls universe books, including the trilogy (A Discovery of Witches, Shadow of Night, The Book of Life), and Time's Convert + snippits from The World of All Souls. If you haven't, and you don't mind, we certainly don't mind! Please be advised, we will approach the television series (A Discovery of Witches) the same way as episodes are released in the US/Canada. π Let's do this. *Note - this podcast is labeled 'explicit'

Chapter 38, Shadow of Night
- Ok, time to go, kids!
- Diana is trying to steer everything with her cords, while trying to distract her father, and change the subject.
- Folk customs to observe….Yay! Work? Yeah, no. Stephen isn’t motivated like Diana.
- We contemplate how life would be if Rebecca and Stephen hadn’t died
- Father Hubbard. Yup. You are SUPPOSED to visit him, MATTHEW. π
- Creatures living as one happy family. C’mon Diana…you’ve lived this. Yoga, The Conventicle, and her current household! Diana, for being so smart, can be dim at times.
- We discuss Diana’s arrested development, magically and otherwise.
- Stephen has already met a lot of people. He knows which witches will show him all of the fun to be had!
- Did Stephen take up smoking AFTER going back to the 16th century?
- Stephen is horrified at Diana and Matthew’s habits. NO FUN! Boooooooo!!!
- Matthew is not a fan of the thought of male bonding? REALLY?
- Stephen: get out, go date, make out!!! Matthew: dude, you think roller-skating is a cool date.
- Diana is not trying to hear about her dad and mom hooking up.
- Sir Lancelot…
- Stephen orders them out. GET OUT!
- Stephen has a penchant for TMI π
- Stephen is pushing them out … we think it’s because he didn’t want to deal with the emotion of the goodbye.
- We compare Stephen leaving with vampires starting a new life. π°⌛️
- For Diana and Matthew this was a date, for us it was a tour of Elizabethan London.
- The Bone Fires! Jean does a bit of Googling on the Googler.
- Angela makes some connections between Morocco and the Earl of Essexπ΄
- We liked that most of the date is wandering and memory-making
- There’s music…there’s gonna be dancing! πΊπ
- A successful date! Matthew is making all of the right moves! πΉ
- The next morning…..Stephen’s gone. π
- The letter. π₯Ί
- FIN
- GAVEL!!! π¨

* Our episode titles are a loving tribute to the show "Friends" just 'cause we love Friends and - let's face it - it's easier! Here's how one of the show creators explains their reasoning:
Jeff Greenstein: "When Marta & David & Jeff & I did 'Dream On', we used to spend a lot of time thinking about titles, because they were on-screen at the top of each episode. On "Friends", we decided that was a waste of time. We figured, why not name each episode after the thing that people will ostensibly be talking about around the water-cooler the next day?"
