Description: Through a series of tussles (verbal/physical) between the head of the de Clermont family and the Grand Master of the Knights of Lazarus, we finally learn who in the family actually holds that elusive seat on the Congregation, and where the HQ is located -- REVELATION! After we've examined all of the information in front of us, we finally understand why the rag-tag group of creatures must scatter in a week's time. As we go, these chapters continue to be dense with information, so naturally the episodes are longer! Take it in bites, or gobble the whole thing! P.S. Don't be a "Karen," wear your masks, and let's get out of this mess!

We (The Daemons) approach this podcast with an assumption that the listener has read All Souls universe books, including the trilogy (A Discovery of Witches, Shadow of Night, The Book of Life), and Time's Convert + snippits from The World of All Souls. Chapter 4, The Book of Life

Diana starts interrogating Matthew about what’s she’s learned during the first family meeting.
When was the last time Matthew was used as the family assassin?🕵️‍♀️
Boob knives! 🗡
Gallowglass enters, Matthew takes off with him, and Diana is left wondering what is going on. Marthe: “Meh, Baldwin’s home” 😂
Diana, meet Earnst. Earnst, Diana. Pleased to meet you! 🤝
Earnst and Verin formulate a plan to get Verin into that meeting!
Earnst is used to arming himself during these meetings — wha?!
The house guests are directed to the salon (Hamish, Sarah, Nathaniel and company...)
Scene change! 🎬
Wagon crash … of course. 💥🚙
Enter the meeting; Phoebe, Marcus, Baldwin, Matthew, Gallowglass are in attendance, and now add Verin and Diana.
Baldwin makes a head of the family declaration! 👑
Marcus is not having it!
Was the split of the Congregation/Knights of Lazarus to ensure a power balance?
The meeting starts going feral! WATCH IT, PHOEBE! 😳
Baldwin breaks it down for the rest of the meeting attendees. Oh, and he happens to be the de Clermont on the Congregation (remember, the TV show was NOT out when we first read this!); revelation #1💡
Baldwin explains the story from his POV.
Democracy’s efficacy with ancient attitudes: #FAIL
Baldwin is explaining the damage that Marcus has done.
"INFERIOR". Diana: 🤬RAGE! Ysabeau: 😴 Yawn.

We find out Knox's consequences. 🚔

The congregation believes Matthew has the missing pages. He doesn’t! It’s the truth…he has missing PAGE! Matthew didn’t lie (much)!
However, Ysabeau can smell the LIES 🤥
Baldwin lays out what he promised the congregation.
Gerbert and Satu will be the Inspectors General! EEK!🙀
The family and friends must scatter!
The Congregation will have insurance. Ysabeau will be that insurance.
Venice is where Congregation headquarters is! For book readers (pre-TV), this was revelation #2.💡
Ysabeau will be vacationing at Gerbert’s — she’s making sure Gerbert’s 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ butcher will be available.🏖🧳
We all agree that this is a bunch of political theater. 🎭
Matthew, Marcus and Diana's roles are laid out by Ysabeau.
CHANGE OF SCENE! 🎬
🎼🎵 Bach plays so the other vampires won’t eavesdrop. 🎶
Matthew and Diana have a conversation ~~argument~~ about the road they need to take re: A782.
The case for a strong head of the family; dissertation by Matthew Clairmont. 🎓
Diana guesses that Matthew’s role will require him to assassinate Knox. Matthew explains that his actions will not be for the family, but for Emily.

Ysabeau and Diana are talking at the temple.
Diana shares the letter from Philippe.
Ysabeau leaves Diana with advice.
