Daemons Discuss - Podcast: Take 63! | Chapter Discussion about the All Souls Trilogy; Chapter 37 of Shadow of Night

An imagined version of Bennu in a room full of magical bubbles...

Take 63 - The One With the Familiars

Description: Earlier in this book, we did this with Matthew and Philippe in the hay barn. Now it's Diana's turn to get a low-key beat-down from her father, and learn how to face her fears. Even though there are no swords involved, Stephen methodically helps her prepare for the big return to the future. With the help of Stephen, Goody and the girls, Diana realize her gifts are tools for her to use -- because let's face it . . . she's going to need it! This is one of our longer episodes, so strap yourself in! Also prepare to get out and help push the wagon out of the ditch -- only a couple of times! OK, maybe more than that? Enjoy!

SPOILER ALERT! We (The Daemons) approach this podcast with an assumption that the listener has read All Souls universe books, including the trilogy (A Discovery of Witches, Shadow of Night, The Book of Life), and  Time's Convert + snippits from The World of All Souls. If you haven't, and you don't mind, we certainly don't mind!  Please be advised, we will approach the television series (A Discovery of Witches) the same way as episodes are released in the US/Canada. 😊  Let's do this. *Note - this podcast is labeled 'explicit'

  • “You look just like I remember . . .” perhaps Stephen gauged his future life span based on this🧐

  • What do you do when confronted with your dead dad — you invite him over for drink and snacks!🍷
  • “SHE HAS YOUR EARS!” WHAT? ⇦ awkward!
  • We cringe at the awkward moments, but we realize Halston and Cher were at the height of popularity during his time.
  • Milli Vanilli break! 🎢
  • Dad takes charge!
  • We start doing the math to figure out Stephen’s age!
  • We believe Stephen knew (or suspected) that she was a weaver
  • We wonder how much Stephen knew about his own powers
  • Diana’s posse barges in! A dog, a boy and girl! What did Stephen think of all of this?!πŸΆπŸ™‍♂️πŸ‘§

* Our episode titles are a loving tribute to the show "Friends" just 'cause we love Friends and - let's face it - it's easier! Here's how one of the show creators explains their reasoning:
Jeff Greenstein: "When Marta & David & Jeff & I did 'Dream On', we used to spend a lot of time thinking about titles, because they were on-screen at the top of each episode. On "Friends", we decided that was a waste of time. We figured, why not name each episode after the thing that people will ostensibly be talking about around the water-cooler the next day?"
