Daemons Discuss - Podcast: Take 61! | Chapter Discussion about the All Souls Trilogy; Chapter 35 of Shadow of Night

"Beware the witch with the blood of the ..." Wait! How'd did that prophecy go? 😜

Take 61 - The One With the Prophecy

Description: Diana finds herself tied up, and negotiating with two creatures who have decided they hate her, and want her gone. When we first open this chapter, it's hard to say how she'll wriggle herself out of this mess. As we saw in A Discovery of Witches, in the oubliette scene, a flash to her past brings clarity to who she is and what she's capable of. No need for Matthew, here! “You’ve always had the power, my dear, you just had to learn it for yourself.”– Glinda (The Good Witch), The Wizard of Oz

SPOILER ALERT! We (The Daemons) approach this podcast with an assumption that the listener has read All Souls universe books, including the trilogy (A Discovery of Witches, Shadow of Night, The Book of Life), and  Time's Convert + snippits from The World of All Souls. If you haven't, and you don't mind, we certainly don't mind!  Please be advised, we will approach the television series (A Discovery of Witches) the same way as episodes are released in the US/Canada. 😊  Let's do this. *Note - this podcast is labeled 'explicit'

Topic:
Chapter 35, Shadow of Night
  • We open with Diana negotiating with terrorists! ⚠️
  • At least try to soften Louisa up, Diana? Negotiation 101!
  • These two creatures — no reason in the world any negotiation would work.
  • The threats escalate quickly! 😳
  • Louisa has a tolerance for blood rage and opium! 🀀
  • Ysabeau’s ring! Louisa claimed this trinket back (so, there was a broken finger involved)
  • Louisa is convinced once Matthew’s eyes are opened, he’ll be happy to see Diana dead.
  • How long have blood rage vampires have had the stigma placed on them?
  • A Domenico tangent! We don’t mind!
  • Angela theorizes that Matthew has empathy for broken creatures like Kit and Louisa.
  • The third eye opens up! Oh right, Diana! You can do that! πŸ‘
  • Louisa got a hold of a horse….what could go wrong? πŸ‡
  • Diana takes a day-dream break and visits with her younger self and Stephen
  • OK…the time-loop talk. Hang on….we are trying to unspool the timeline here . .  . πŸ•°
  • Diana had her dragon from an early age. Stephen and Corra had already met!
  • Stephen is very HONEST. “Nope!”
  • We discuss the arc and what was in it and relate it to another part of the trilogy
  • Does Corra skip across timelines?
  • Diana is creating some magic from her blood…where is this leading?
  • BAM! Just when Diana is getting herself loose, Kit strikes!πŸ—‘
  • Think. Stay alive.
  • Diana grows WINGS! And a dragon head….πŸ‰
  • Do Philippe and Goody know each? We don’t underestimate either of them.
  • Corra sets Diana loose, and down below while Diana floats up, Kit and Louisa crash! We imagine this scene to be cartoon-ish.
  • Diana traps Kit and Louisa.
  • Diana decides to play fortune teller, and scares the crap out of these two!
  • Hancock comes in like the Tasmanian devil!
  • Diana: What prophecy?!!!
  • Henry and Jack arrive to see the show.
  • Whoops. Here comes Matthew. Walter and Pierre are not far behind.
  • Matthew notices Diana was hurt. He’s ANGRY! 😑 Jack calms him down.
  • Kit decides to accuse Diana of cuckolding Matthew. Kit: HOW DARE YOU, MADAME!
  • We discuss if Louisa would know if she knew if Diana carried the blood of the Lion, or was she guessing⁉️
  • Kit and Louisa are left to Hancock and Walter to be dealt with.
  • Back in the house of angry vampires and witches; Diana is healed by Susanna.
  • We theorize about why Matthew didn’t want to use his blood to heal Diana.
  • We wonder why Matthew didn’t share the prophecy earlier.
  • “… a deadly force drawing me into the darkness” and drawing us to the end.
  • FIN.
Just in time for this chapter! Teresa Palmer happened to be filming this scene recently! Original post

* Our episode titles are a loving tribute to the show "Friends" just 'cause we love Friends and - let's face it - it's easier! Here's how one of the show creators explains their reasoning:
Jeff Greenstein: "When Marta & David & Jeff & I did 'Dream On', we used to spend a lot of time thinking about titles, because they were on-screen at the top of each episode. On "Friends", we decided that was a waste of time. We figured, why not name each episode after the thing that people will ostensibly be talking about around the water-cooler the next day?"
