'Tis the season! Let's celebrate the day Diana Bishop and Matthew Clairmont met! Oh, and the Equinox-- that too! |
The time has come! Mabon will be here on the 21st, the days are about to shorten, and we all get prepared for the dark! For those of you who actually harvest, it's time to store it away, and the rest of us will join you in reflection. The Druids call this celebration,
Mea'n Fo'mhair, and honor the The Green Man -- the God of the Forest -- by offering libations to trees. The offerings of ciders, wines, herbs and fertilizer are tradition, and we're pretty sure they figured that the trees wouldn't mind if they had some wine and ciders, too π π·π». Wiccans celebrate the aging Goddess as she passes from Mother to Crone πππ, and her consort the God as he prepares for death and re-birth. That is all well and good, but fans of this universe mainly know that Mabon is when Matthew and Diana meet! Now the Daemons ... you know how
we celebrate! Let's say it together:
WITH A GIVEAWAY!
|
Duke Humfrey's candle, A Discovery of Witches (signed), BadWolf/A Discovery of Witches journal, and a Bod bookmark! |
We've gathered a rather beautiful prize package for one lucky winner! So let's see, there's a nod to the Bod ... we've included a bookmark from the Bodleian displaying the Bodleian oath, and paired with that, we have a rather lovely Duke Humfrey's candle (for those dark nights, guys! We are doing theme stuff, here!). We've thrown in a gift from
A Discovery of Witches TV -- a journal that was given to the cast and crew prior to filming Season 1 (hey!
You'll need a place to record your random thoughts on those dark nights)! Finally, it wouldn't be right without some reading (it's
Real-Time Read Along season, after all) -- for that we've put the cherry on top -- a copy of
A Discovery of Witches (with the TV-tie in cover) and it's signed by Deborah Harkness! *Bow!*
Up for grabs:
- A Bodleian Library bookmarkπ This bookmark features the oath - "I hereby undertake not to remove from the Library, nor to mark, deface, or injure in any way, any volume, document or other object belonging to it or in its custody; not to bring into the Library, or kindle therein, any fire or flame, and not to smoke in the Library; and I promise to obey all rules of the Library."
- A Duke Humfrey's candleπ "An intensely rich, woody chypre accord with soft top notes of leather, bergamot pith and green leaves, leading to a soft base of amber, tobacco and sandalwood"
- A Discovery of Witches/Bad Wolf journalπ Filled with blank, lined paper.
- A copy of A Discovery of Witches (Headline paperback/UK version/TV-tie in cover), signed by Deborah Harkness π
Update! Congratulations, Vivian!
